The Dregs + Phil managed only second place again last night, missing out on the top slot by a mere three points.

Angora The Sheep
Angora sheep’s wool is used to make mohair suits…..unlike merino sheep’s wool which us used for something else.

It was announced tonight that the weekly pub quiz first prize would be £50, regardless of the number of entrants. The prize winning pot has usually been rather less than this in recent weeks, so it must be an attempt to attract more quiz entrants. Sadly, we narrowly missed being the first winners of this new jackpot, and had to settle for the second prize of a free pint of beer each next week.

Tonight’s Dregs Team
What a shambles tonight’s quiz was.
Absentees were:
SteveR Dreg - too far to walk
BeerLegKing - feigning illness
SteveC - no show
That left just Dawkeye and Mark E. Dreg (he’s at the bar) to struggle through by themselves. Thankfully they are the most intelligeunt smartest members of the team; and scored a whopping 36 points, only 5 points behind the winners, for a respectable 4th place out of 11 teams.
And, by the way, we drank your free beer!

The Beerlegking will not be at the pub quiz tonight due to a serious case of “Man Cold”

After his triumphant performance last night, the tally looks like this:
Successful tie-breaks: 4
Failed tie-breaks: 1
Not bad at all, Dawkeye.

We came second tonight, which means we’ll all get a free pint of ale each at next week’s quiz. It was a close run thing, as we tied with another team for second place and so it went to a tie-break.
The tie-break question was “How many letters were in the Etruscan alphabet?” Our tie-break specialist Dawkeye said 21, the rival team’s rep said 24. It was 20, so Dawkeye triumphed again.
The Famous Five took first place once more, by an impressive margin of 6 points.
