We were puzzled by this question and ended up putting “Havana”, as that city is mentioned in his song Copacabana. However, when the quiz papers were marked, we were told the actual answer was “Ipanema”! This is, of course, absolute bollocks. I have done a google, and I can find no evidence that Barry Manilow ever recorded a version of The Girl From Ipanema. Every other crooner on the planet has recorded it, but not Barry. Even if he did, it is not a song that anyone associates with him. Whoever let this ridiculous question appear in the quiz is a total incompetent and should be fired immediately.
